FURA Offers $4000 Matching Grants for Residents to Reopen Enclosed Porches
Fairport Urban Renewal Agency (FURA) is doubling its grant program for Village residents who want to reopen their enclosed front porches.
The Front Porch Grant program supports Village residents’ efforts to renovate, repair and upgrade their front porches with matching grants up to $2000. Now, homeowners who plan to open up their enclosed front porches can receive matching grants as much as $4000.
“Our porches help to convey the quintessential village feel that we embrace in this community. I have spoken with many residents who simply love their beautiful, open front porches. Some say it is their favorite place to be in the home,” said Bill Poray, Town of Perinton Historian. “Sidewalks, streetlights, tree-lined streets, and a wonderful front porch are part of what make Fairport such a lovely community.”
To date, the Front Porch Grant program has assisted 57 Front Porch projects with grant awards totaling $100,485. These grants leverage more than $350,000 invested by the homeowners.
“This is a fantastic program benefitting the Fairport community in a variety of ways and we gladly support it,” said Cindy Cochern, Village of Fairport resident and Front Porch Grant recipient.
